Talent Fund-supported projects selected at fall film festivals

Talent to Watch recipient and Nova Scotian director Heather Young, had the World Premiere of her first feature Murmur at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in the Discovery program.

The film was awarded the Prize of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI Prize).

Murmur was also presented as the opening Gala of FIN Atlantic International Film Festival, on September 12.  This was the first time in the festival’s history to open with a debut feature film. Murmur was awarded four ‘Best Atlantic’ prizes, including: feature, director, screenplay, and cinematographer.

  • Easy Land by Ontarian director Sanja Zivkovic also had its World Premiere in the Discovery competition at TIFF
  • Easy Land and Murmur both screened at the 2019 Vancouver and Calgary International Film Festivals. Easy Land also screened at Cinéfest Sudbury.

It was also recently announced that Ruthless Souls, from Manitoban director Madison Thomas, will have its World Premiere at the 2019 ImagineNATIVE Film Festival.
