CBC News recently shared their Top 5 Films to Watch With Your Kids this March Break and a few Telefilm – supported recipients made the list that we believe are a definitely must-see.

The Sun At Midnight holds a great deal of Canadian pride in its creation as it was the first feature film to be set and shot in the Northwest Territories. A Talent To Watch Micro-budget film, this film tells the story of an unusual friendship between a caribou hunter and a runaway teenage girl throughout the stunning landscape of the territories.

Starring Devery Jacobs, Duane Howard and directed by Kirsten Carthew this beautifully shot film is sure to tug at your heartstrings. When speaking about the making of the film, director Kirsten Carthew told us:

“I learned a lot about myself as a person, as a director, as a filmmaker and as a collaborator on this project.” ― Kirsten Carthew, Director

Her one hope is that viewers will be able to appreciate the beauty of the Northwest territories and see how much value the land has to offer the film & television industry.

Kiss and Cry tells the true story of 18-year-old figure skater Carley Allison’s life who finds love at the same time she is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. This emotional story is made even more touching with the fact that Carley is played by her real life best friend, actress Sarah Fischer.
