Movie Nights Across Canada: A Celebration of Canadian Talent

In celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary year, Movie Nights Across Canada rolled out the red carpet coast-to-coast-to-coast to celebrate our country’s renowned and emerging film talent.

Telefilm Canada partnered with organizations across the country to celebrate Canadian film through the eight-event initiative.

Events took place in Ottawa ON, Toronto ON, Winnipeg MB, Iqaluit NU, Montréal QC, Halifax NS, Calgary AB and Vancouver BC. Each city showcased a different regional film including: Two Lovers and a Bear; Mean DreamsLovesick; Maliglutit (Searchers)Hochelaga, Land of Souls; Long Time Running; When They Awake; and Meditation Park; showcasing the depth and breadth of the Canadian film industry.

Along this cross-country celebration tour, local talent, government officials, patrons and sponsors were treated to a night of glamour as they walked the eTalk red carpet, experienced live performances, and had exclusive access to the cast and filmmakers. With the Talent Fund as a key sponsor, Movie Nights Across Canada was an opportunity to put Canadian film in the spotlight and to appreciate the incredible homegrown talent that has been developed and nurtured in our great country. Happy Birthday Canada!
